Kent Police Crack Down at Dawn
At 6:30 am on Wednesday, Kent Police" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kent Police took to Twitter to slam the reckless move. They said: “The drivers of these three HGVs thought it was acceptable to take their breaks on the exit slip road at Junction 10a. Our roads policing unit didn’t.”
Fines and Furious Orders
The drivers were slapped with GFPNs (graduated fixed penalty notices) on the spot. Officers ordered the lorries to move immediately, warning that parking on a slip road puts everyone on the motorway at risk and causes dangerous hold-ups.
Why Breaks Matter – But Not Here
- HGV drivers must take breaks after 4.5 hours behind the wheel to avoid fatigue.
- But stopping on motorway slip roads is a serious hazard for all road users.
- Kent Police are now reminding drivers to use safe, designated rest areas only.
This incident is a stark warning: don’t risk safety for convenience on our motorways – the law means business.
