UK COVID-19 Death Toll Rises by 360 as Total Hits 21,093

Across the UK, today’s official data shows 360 new deaths, pushing the total beyond 21,000.
Scotland & Northern Ireland ICU Update
Scotland reports 134 COVID-19 patients currently in intensive care. The Scottish Ambulance Service attended 1,548 calls on April 26, with 306 suspected COVID-19 cases. They transported 193 patients to hospital suspected of having the virus.
Care Homes and NHS Staff Absences
- 530 adult care homes have reported at least one suspected COVID-19 case; 345 homes have multiple cases.
- 384 care homes currently face active outbreaks as of April 21.
- 2,731 total suspected cases in care homes, up by 41 on the previous day.
- 7,204 NHS staff, about 4.3% of the workforce, are off sick or self-isolating due to COVID-19.
Hospital Delays Slashed, Discharges Climb
Scotland has cut hospital delays by over 1,000 since early March, surpassing targets set for March and April. Current delays stand at 582 patients (as of April 24).
Since March 5, 2,380 COVID-positive patients have left hospital, slightly up from yesterday.
