Train Services Grind to a Halt
Train travel has been thrown into turmoil following a bizarre incident at Folkestone Central. Around 12.30pm on Wednesday 23rd March 2022, a scooter dramatically fell onto the tracks, sparking an emergency response.
Stranded Travellers as Routes to Dover and Ashford Suspended
Since the incident, no trains have run to Dover or Ashford. All services have been halted while paramedics tend to a man who also fell onto the platform during the chaos. The situation has caused widespread disruption, leaving commuters stranded.
Southeastern Issues Urgent Travel Update
Southeastern tweeted: “Trains are unable to travel through Folkestone Central due to emergency services responding to an incident at the station. Emergency Services are now on site. Services will be disrupted until the incident is resolved.”
Alternative Travel Arrangements Announced
To ease the chaos, Southeastern confirmed your train ticket can now be used free of charge on Stagecoach buses running route 10 between Ashford and Folkestone, and route 102 between Folkestone and Dover.
