Train Smashes Buffers at Enfield Town – Chaos as Carriages Derail

Firefighters raced to Enfield Town Railway Station this morning after an eight-carriage passenger train derailed, smashing into the buffers at the end of the line.

Quick Evacuation and Minor Injuries

Around 50 passengers were evacuated safely before the fire brigade arrived, thanks to swift action by TfL and station staff. Two people were treated for minor injuries by London Ambulance Service crews.

Firefighters Secure Scene and Begin Recovery

Station Commander Jim O’Neill said: “The train had hit the buffers at the station and gone over the top of them. Firefighters carried out a systematic search to make sure no one was left on board.”

“Crews then helped station staff make the scene safe ahead of recovery efforts.”

The Brigade was called at 8:27am, and the incident was wrapped up by 9:30am. Three fire engines and two rescue units were on the scene.
