Traffic chaos grips Newport as two-car crash snarls major roundabout
Firefighters rushed to a rear-end smash involving two vehicles on Newport’s busy Coppins Bridge roundabout just after midday today. The crew from Newport fire station arrived swiftly at 12:05pm to tackle the incident.
Hazard cleared after liquid spill
Emergency teams made the scene safe after fluid leaked from one of the vehicles. They secured the damaged cars and ensured no further risks to motorists.
Delays pile up, bus services hit
Motorists face lengthy hold-ups as rubberneckers slow down to spot the crash. Southern Vectis reveals that bus routes 2, 3, 5, 8, and 9 are all running late by 5 to 20 minutes. Drivers are battling through the snarled traffic as best they can.
“Those involved are understood to have escaped without injury,” officials confirmed.
