Tragic Bexleyheath Blaze Kills Four
London Fire Commissioner Andy Roe has expressed deep sorrow following a devastating house fire in Bexleyheath on Thursday evening. “This is a truly terrible incident which is both sad and shocking,” he said. “Our thoughts are with the family, friends and local community at this difficult time.”
Four Family Members Die in Horrific Rescue Attempt
Around 40 firefighters and six fire engines rushed to a blaze at a Hamilton Road home in Bexleyheath. Wearing breathing apparatus, crews used a nine-metre ladder to rescue two women and two children from the first floor. Tragically, all four died at the scene.
One Man Hospitalised After Escaping Flames
One man managed to escape the burning building before fire crews arrived. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service for treatment.
Fire Department Responds Swiftly – Cause Unknown
- The Brigade was alerted at 8:28pm and declared the incident over by 9:45pm.
- Fire stations from Bexley, Erith, Plumstead, Lee Green, and Sidcup joined the response.
- The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
