Carnage on Cuxton Road as Cement Mixer Loses Control and Smashes Into Cars
Chaos erupted on the A228 near the White Hart pub in Kent after a huge Fleetmix cement mixer suffered a blowout and lost control. The monstrous lorry smashed into a row of stationary cars waiting at temporary traffic lights, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Smash-Up Sends Vehicles Flying
The Dartford-based lorry ploughed into seven parked cars with such force that one vehicle was overturned on its side. Emergency services scrambled to the scene just after 1pm on Wednesday afternoon, with ten ambulances, a specialist HART team, and Kent Surrey and Sussex air ambulance all attending.
Firefighters Battle to Free Trapped Driver
Kent Fire and Rescue dispatched three crews who used cutting gear to rescue a trapped driver. A spokesman said they arrived at 1.04pm after reports of a person trapped inside the overturned car.
Road Closure and Traffic Chaos
The A228 remains closed in both directions, causing major traffic snarls as recovery teams clear the wreckage. All seven cars and the cement mixer have been written off in the smash.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area while cleanup and investigations continue.
