Hit-and-Run Horror on Gilmerton Road

Police are hunting for leads after a 12-year-old boy was hit by a silver or grey car on Gilmerton Road on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. The crash happened around 4pm between Walter Scott Avenue and Redgauntlet Terrace. Shocking the scene, the driver initially stopped but then sped off, leaving the injured child behind.

Young Victim Rushed to Hospital

The boy was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh by ambulance. His condition has not been disclosed.

Investigation Underway – Police Plead for Witnesses

PC Claire Mitchell, leading the probe, said:

“We are urgently trying to trace the car involved. The area was busy with traffic and pedestrians at the time. If you saw anything, please get in touch immediately.”
