Lifeboat crew and coastguards rush to save stranded walker cut off by rising tide near Dover
Walker trapped by tide as creeks flood
On Saturday lunchtime, a walker got trapped by the rising tide after attempting to cross flooded creeks near Dover.
Rescue operation sprang into action
At around 12.30 pm, the Walmer RNLI lifeboat was dispatched to assist two volunteer coastguard teams from Dover and Deal. The coastguards led the daring rescue, while the lifeboat provided vital safety cover.
Stranded walker rescued cold but unharmed
The walker was found cold and wet but thankfully unharmed. They were brought safely back to shore and did not require medical treatment.
Mild weather helped prevent tragedy
Officials noted the outcome could have been far worse if not for the unseasonably mild weather on the day. A stark reminder of the dangers posed by tides and unpredictable coastal conditions.
