Wightlink Warriors Face Coventry Bees in National League Showdown
This Thursday (10 May), speedway action rockets back to Ryde as the Isle of Wight’s Wightlink Warriors host the Coventry Bees at Andrew Younie Smallbrook Stadium. Gates open at 5.30pm with the first heat roaring off at 7pm.
Coventry Club Battles On After Brandon Stadium Collapse
Once a Speedway powerhouse, Coventry’s Brandon Stadium lies derelict after years of ownership battles, neglect, and planning chaos. With no home ground, the Bees are racing under a new banner at Leicester’s track this season. Promoter Mick Horton is determined to keep the club’s legendary flame alive while work continues to fix Brandon’s troubles.
Bees Buzzing After Buxton Win; Team Packed With Talent
The Bees roll into Ryde boosted by a recent away victory at Buxton. Leading the charge is British Under-21 silver medallist Connor Mountain. He’s flanked by seasoned pro Jon Armstrong and comeback kid Danny Phillips, returning from injury troubles. Their top five also features the dynamic duo Luke Ruddick and Luke Harris, with young guns Jamie Halder and Scottish starlet Ryan MacDonald rounding out the squad.
Warriors Face Injury Woes and Must Step Up
Things haven’t been smooth for the Warriors lately, and star skipper Ben Hopwood faces an injury scare after being hit by debris during last week’s heat 15. The Manchester rider’s desperate to get back on track, but his participation will be decided on match day morning. If he’s sidelined, the Warriors will rely on a rider replacement, their only option.
“This is our second league meeting and for the management, it is a must-win,” said Warriors boss Barry Bishop. Coventry have put together a strong squad and won’t underestimate us. We know what we have to do – now it’s time to do it.”
Bishop also urged fans to turn up the volume and get behind the Warriors. A new ‘introduce a mate or family’ scheme means loyal supporters can bring guests for free. Check the Warriors’ website and Facebook for details.
