Sidcup Blaze Hospitalises Woman and Child
A morning fire on Woodside Road, Sidcup, has left a woman and child in hospital with smoke inhalation. A man also needed treatment at the scene. The fire broke out just after 7:30 am in a converted semi-detached house now serving as offices and flats.
Massive Fire Response to Sidcup House Blaze
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Sidcup, Eltham, Bexley, Bromley, Plumstead, and nearby stations rushed to tackle the flames. The fire severely damaged the first floor and roof. Paramedics rapidly transported the woman and child to hospital, while a man was treated on-site.
New Fire Command Units Debut at Incident
The blaze marked the London Fire Brigade’s first use of their new command units – retrofitted single-decker buses packed with cutting-edge tech. These mobile hubs feature deployable cameras, computers, and advanced communications to boost real-time scene awareness and info sharing.
Station Commander Stephen Irvine said, “The deployable camera, carried on each command unit, was used to stream imagery back to incident commanders, enhancing situational awareness.”
Fire Under Control – Cause Still Unknown
Fire crews brought the blaze under control by 9:06 am, roughly 90 minutes after the call came in. The London Fire Brigade is continuing its investigation to uncover what sparked the fire.
