Woman Found Dead on M1 Motorway Sparks Murder Probe
Police are investigating after a woman’s body was discovered on the M1 motorway early this morning.
Body Found at Junction 22
At 5.10am on 18 January, a motorist travelling southbound on the M1 near junction 22 spotted the woman lying in the road and alerted authorities.
Emergency crews from the police and East Midlands Ambulance Service rushed to the scene and confirmed the woman was dead.
Road Closed, Now Reopened
The motorway was shut between junctions 22 and 21a while officers examined the scene. The road has since reopened.
Earlier Incident on Same Motorway Bridge
Investigators believe the woman is the same person seen on the wrong side of a bridge over the M1 the previous morning. She had come down from the bridge and was taken to hospital for assessment.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw her before her death to come forward.
