Youth Strike for Climate Takes to Reading Streets

A group of young climate activists stormed the heart of Reading this afternoon, staging a sit-in outside Barclays bank at Jackson’s Corner. The protest was aimed squarely at the Government, demanding urgent action on climate change. The Youth Strike for Climate Action kicked off outside Broad Street Mall before marching down Broad Street and blocking the road.

Angry Shouts for ‘Climate Action Now’

Protesters passionately called for the Government to get serious about the climate crisis. “Climate action now!” rang out as they targeted Barclays, notorious for backing fossil fuel projects. Drivers’ reactions were mixed — many hooted in support, but others showed frustration.

Bus Services Thrown Into Chaos

The protest caused severe disruption to local and District bus routes, leaving many commuters stranded in traffic jams during rush hour.
