Hamas Frees Two Female Captives in Rare Humanitarian Move
Hamas has released two female prisoners in a surprising humanitarian gesture. The move was brokered through Qatari-Egyptian mediation, revealed Abu Obaida, spokesperson for Hamas’ armed wing.
Humanitarian Grounds Cited Despite Enemy Snub
Obaida said the release was due to “humanitarian and poor health grounds” despite the enemy’s refusal to accept the captives last Friday. He pointed out the neglect of prisoners’ welfare by the opposing side.
“We decided to release them for humanitarian and poor health grounds… Despite that, the enemy refused to receive them last Friday.” – Abu Obaida
Earlier Release of Two American Hostages
This comes after Hamas freed two American hostages last Friday, nearly two weeks after they were seized by gunmen near Gaza along with dozens of others.
