Hampshire Police are on the case after three daring attempts to break into petrol stations and a shop in Fareham and Lee-on-the-Solent overnight between Thursday 19 July and Friday 20 July.
Smash and Grab Fails at Co-op and Petrol Stations
At 4:36am on Friday 20 July, someone smashed a door panel at the Co-op store on Fairfield Avenue, Fareham. Thankfully, no entry was gained and nothing stolen. A suspicious man was spotted nearby. Next, at 6:16am, an attempted break-in was reported at the BP petrol station on Broom Way, Lee-on-the-Solent. Two men tried to force a door and smash a window. Once again, nothing was taken. One man matched the same description: grey hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms with his face covered. The second was wearing a dark hooded top with writing, three-quarter length dark trousers, and dark shoes.
Shell Garage Targeted but Cash Safe
Just before 7am, another incident hit the Shell Garage on Centre Way, Fareham. Two men forced the shutters but left empty-handed—no cash was in the till. The first man wore a grey hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms, and black trainers. Police have released his photo as part of the investigation. The second man wore a black hooded top with a white motif, dark three-quarter length trousers and dark boots.
