Suella Braverman Slams UK and US for Softening on Israel
Former UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman has blasted Britain and America for backing off their staunch support for Israel. Her fiery comments come after a poignant visit to Israeli sites hit by Hamas militants during the horrific attacks on October 7 last year.
Emotional Visit to Hamas Attack Sites
Braverman was visibly moved, shedding tears at the infamous Supernova music festival grounds—a spot targeted in the brutal Hamas assault. Witnessing the destruction first-hand left the senior Tory MP deeply shaken.
Warning Over UN Resolution and US Abstention
Her ire centers on the UK’s role in pushing through a UN Security Council resolution calling for a Gaza ceasefire during Ramadan. Although a first of its kind, the resolution shockingly failed to demand the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. The US abstained from voting, a move Braverman found “deeply troubling.”
“I am angry when I see the backsliding by countries like the US and UK. This is not a time for walking away. This is a time for strengthening our support for Israel,” she warned The Telegraph.
Brutal Words for Hamas and Foreign Office Rebuke
Braverman slammed Hamas as a “death cult” that must be “totally degraded” to prevent its terror from spilling into the UK. She also took a swipe at Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron, revealing she was told Israel’s actions in Gaza did not violate international law—claims that remain controversial.
The ex-Home Secretary called for caution on UK arms exports to Israel, insisting licences must guarantee weapons don’t breach international humanitarian law.
While acknowledging Lord Cameron’s experience, Braverman warned of a growing anti-Israel bias within the Foreign Office. She stressed no one should equate Israel’s defence with Hamas terrorism.
