Met Police Officer Fabian Aguilar-Delgado Cleared of Sexual Assault Allegations
Officer Denies Claims of Assault
PC Fabian Aguilar-Delgado, 40, has denied a woman’s accusations that he sexually assaulted her after following her upstairs at her home. The officer insisted no intimacy took place during the encounter.
DNA Evidence Explained Away
Aguilar-Delgado claimed the DNA found on the woman’s chest was transferred innocently. He said it could have come from her grabbing his hand or from him speaking loudly and accidentally spitting on her. Both prosecution and defence agreed it was possible saliva or sweat got on her breast after a handshake.
Woman’s Confusing Actions Raise Eyebrows
After the incident, the woman admitted she felt sexually attracted to Aguilar-Delgado and even handed him her phone number on a brown paper envelope. She also claimed that he groped her and suspected he still wanted to meet. Meanwhile, Aguilar-Delgado said she was under the influence of alcohol during their chat.
Jury Verdict: Not Guilty
The officer, who moved to the UK from Spain in 2013 and joined the Met in 2019, faced one count of sexual assault by touching. Despite DNA linking him to the majority of the sample taken from the woman’s right nipple, the jury ultimately found him not guilty.
