Knife Thief Murdered Chef in Brutal Midnight Attack on Seven Sisters Road Adam Tarik, 25, from Tottenham, has been found guilty of murder at the Old Bailey after a savage attack on chef Baris Kucuk.
Baris Stabbed in Horror Late-Night Assault
Tarik, who admitted robbery and carrying a blade in February, was convicted of murder following an eight-day trial. The judge will sentence him on Thursday, 13 February. The victim, 33-year-old Baris, was attacked just after 2.30am on Saturday, 1 June 2019, on a quiet stretch of Seven Sisters Road.
Chilling Encounter Before the Attack
Baris, Kurdish and originally from Turkey, had spent the evening out with friends. On his way home to Finsbury Park, he stopped at an off-licence near Manor House station to buy beer. There, he met an Italian woman and they walked together, communicating through a translation app. Unbeknownst to them, Tarik was cycling nearby, hunting for victims to rob. The woman later told the court she felt “anxious and frightened” as Tarik on his bike drew closer. Baris escorted her safely inside her home, sharing a brief embrace. Moments later, screams pierced the night.
Knife Attack and Heartbreaking Aftermath
The woman saw Baris lying on the pavement, bleeding heavily, with Tarik standing over him before cycling away towards Seven Sisters station. Doctors found Baris’s leg horrifically slashed through the knee joint. Despite emergency surgery and a leg amputation, he succumbed to catastrophic blood loss and multiple organ failure on 3 June 2019.
Caught on CCTV and Arrested
Police investigation by the Specialist Crime Command quickly zeroed in on Tarik. He was arrested at his home on 8 June and linked to the crime by CCTV and forensic evidence. He remained silent in interviews. Detectives also revealed that Baris’s phone and one of his beer bottles were stolen while he lay dying.
