One Dead, Four Critically Injured as Tornado Ravages Town Near Paris

Apocalyptic Tornado Tears Through Ermont

A ferocious tornado struck Ermont, a town in the Val-d’Oise region just north of Paris, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. The violent twister ripped off roofs, brought cranes crashing down, and uprooted trees in what witnesses called “apocalyptic” scenes.

The storm hit at around 5.45pm on Monday, killing one person and leaving four others fighting for their lives. Officials have yet to release details about the victim.

Shocking footage shows cranes toppling and residents desperately sheltering as debris flew through the town like deadly missiles.

Massive Emergency Response Underway

The Val-d’Oise prefecture confirmed: “One dead, four in critical condition, and five with less severe injuries.”

Around 80 firefighters, 50 police, and 20 emergency medics rushed to the scene to manage the wreckage and assist the wounded.

Eyewitnesses captured frantic motorists scrambling to evade falling branches and debris.

“Apocalyptic scenes on the A115 Ermont side today but magnificent mutual aid to lift a motorcyclist and clear the entire road of fallen trees,” one witness posted on social media.

Authorities Warn Residents to Stay Safe

Ermont town hall warned locals on social media: “Following the brief but violent storm many trees were uprooted. Technical teams and police are working to secure and clear affected areas.”

The Val-d’Oise prefecture urged people to avoid unnecessary travel and “let emergency vehicles pass” as security forces work alongside rescue teams.

Valérie Pécresse, president of the Île-de-France region, tweeted: “Thoughts for the inhabitants of Val-d’Oise, victims of a violent tornado. The Region will support affected communities.”

Deadly Tornadoes Rare in France

This tornado is the first in the region to cause a fatality since August 3, 2008. Back then, a deadly twister in Hautmont claimed three lives and injured 18.
