One of the returning shows is Scam Interceptors, which will be back for the second part of series two in October. The program has also been commissioned for series three in 2024. Hosted by Rav Wilding and Nick Stapleton, the show is based at the Scam Interceptors HQ in the BBC’s Glasgow offices. With the assistance of ethical hacker Jim Browning, the team monitors industrial-scale scammers in real-time from around the world. Using remote-access technology, the team hacks the hackers and tries to intercept victims before they fall prey to the scams. This series will also introduce “Ground Interceptors” – mobile teams dispatched to help victims in person when other methods fail.
Make It At Market will also return for series two in November, filmed in Waterperry Gardens in Oxfordshire. Hosted by Dom Chinea and a team of business and craft experts, the show aims to transform the lives of aspiring entrepreneurs who want to make a living from their crafting hobby. The amateurs will face challenges to prove their skills before venturing into the real world to monetise their craft.
Big Little Crimes has been commissioned for series two and three, produced by Brown Bob Cymru and based in Cardiff. The new series will consist of 15 episodes, each featuring police officers from different forces across the country sharing stories of how they caught big criminals starting from minor offenses. The show will include dash-cam footage, dramatic reconstructions, and interviews with serving and retired officers recounting unforgettable cases.
Dr. Xand’s Con or Cure will return in 2024, with Dr. Xand van Tulleken and Ashley John Baptiste investigating medical crimes and testing the latest health fads. The duo will use viewer suggestions to uncover scams, debunk myths, and explore the most important stories in the field of medicine.
BBC Daytime has also recommissioned Moment of Proof and Fraud Squad for BBC One and iPlayer in 2024, both produced by Brown Bob Cymru.
Rob Unsworth, Head of BBC Daytime and Early Peak Commissioning, expressed his excitement about the returning shows, stating, “Crime and crafting have always been beloved topics for the Daytime audience, and these series brought a fresh and modern approach that resonated with viewers. We are delighted to bring them back for more programs, and with all the new series available on iPlayer, viewers won’t miss a single episode.”
