Netanyahu Warns: Israel Ready for Full-Blown Clash with Hezbollah

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared Israel “prepared for a very intense operation” along its volatile northern border with Lebanon. The stark warning comes amid escalating violence between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants, who have been trading near-daily fire for eight grueling months — now reaching a critical breaking point.

Netanyahu Vows to Restore Security

Visiting the tense border region, Netanyahu promised to crack down hard and restore security to Israel’s northern areas. “We are prepared for a very intense operation in the north,” he declared. “One way or another, we will restore security to the north.”

Hezbollah Strikes Back, Tensions Surge

Hezbollah, Lebanon’s militant group and Hamas ally, fired several attacks on Israeli positions, including a guided missile strike that reportedly targeted an Iron Dome air defense system near Ramot Naftali barracks. The Iron Dome is Israel’s crucial shield against incoming rockets and missiles.

In recent weeks, Israel has ramped up airstrikes deep into Lebanese territory, targeting Hezbollah fighters and allied forces — ratcheting up fears that a full-scale war is looming.

Hardline Ministers Demand Total Offensive

Key figures in Netanyahu’s far-right coalition, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, are pushing for decisive military action. Ben-Gvir warned fiercely on Telegram: “They burn us here, all Hezbollah strongholds should also burn and be destroyed. WAR!”

Smotrich called for a security buffer inside southern Lebanon — a ground invasion to push Hezbollah fighters and civilians beyond the Litani River.

Military Ready to Strike, Casualties Mount

Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi confirmed the army is set for escalation. “We are prepared after extensive training to move to an offensive in the north,” he said. “We are approaching a decision point.”

The violence has already taken a heavy toll. Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley have killed roughly 300 Hezbollah fighters and 80 civilians since October 7. Israel has lost 18 soldiers and 10 civilians in attacks from Lebanon.

This is the bloodiest clash between Israel and Hezbollah since their 2006 war, displacing tens of thousands on both sides. As tensions boil over, the world watches anxiously, hoping cooler heads will prevail in a region where “many actors are no longer rational.”
