Woman and Baby escape Serious injuires after car careers off road in Portsmouth

Police have cordoned off one lane in Kingston Road in Portsmouth after a car hit a set of traffic lights narrowly missing a convenience shop at just after 2pm today. A woman driver was treated at the scene with injuries that are not thought to be serious the baby that was onboard was unhurt. The owner of Tony’s food store said, “I was upstairs in my flat while workers were downstairs and I heard a loud crash and at first I thought the scaffolding had fallen. It  sounded like a bomb going off. The worker came running upstairs saying a customer had nearly been hit by a car that had crashed through the barriers and nearly into the shop. It was all very scary. I am just so glad everyone was okay.”   https://youtu.be/1AgSSqbSwVg The VW Touran was wedged between a barrier and the shop. Fire figthers are  attempting to make the area safe whilst Police direct traffic. Fire fighters have removed a section of the barrier to free the car so it can be recovered. Specialists from Boarhunt Garage have winched the damaged vehicle onto the accident recovery unit. The traffic in and around the area is slowly getting back to normal.
