Bin Blaze Sparks Chaos on Portsmouth Street

Fire crews rushed to Hayling Avenue in Baffins, Portsmouth, just before 8pm on Tuesday after a wheelie bin fire jumped to a nearby bin shed roof. Three fire engines from Southsea battled thick smoke billowing through the street.

Roads Closed as Flames Threaten Flats

Police quickly closed Kimbolton Road and cordoned off the area while firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the blaze with hose reels. They worked fast to stop the fire spreading to neighbouring flats amid heavy smoke.

Residents Warned to Keep Windows Shut

Smoke filled the street, prompting officials to advise locals to keep windows closed. The cause of the blaze remains unknown. Firefighters urged residents not to dump hot ashes or embers in bins to avoid similar incidents.
