Freshwater Murder Probe Hits Dead End as CPS Drops Charges

Hampshire police have handed over their murder investigation file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) after the tragic death of Michael Freshwater.

Michael’s body was discovered at a flat on Westridge Road, Southampton, around 4pm on Friday, April 29.

Three Arrested but No Charges

  • A 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, both from London, and a 17-year-old boy from Kent, were arrested on suspicion of murder.
  • All three were interviewed and later released on bail while police continued enquiries.

CPS Says No Case to Answer

In a blow to the investigation, the CPS has advised the Major Crime Team to take no further action against the suspects, leaving the case unresolved for now.
