Ex-teacher Jailed for Sex Crimes Against Boy at Exclusive Prep School
Nicholas Martin Eggington, 58, a former prep school teacher from Arnold, Nottingham, was slapped with a three-year jail sentence at Winchester Crown Court on Friday, December 2. He was convicted of two counts of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency against a male child.
Horrific Abuse Hidden Behind Classroom Doors
Eggington’s vile offences took place between 1992 and 1993 at a prestigious school on the Berkshire-Hampshire border. The victim was a single pupil who suffered abuse in multiple locations including a faculty classroom store cupboard, the photography club darkroom, and a secluded spot by a river known as ‘camps’.
Eggington had worked at the school from 1987 to 1993, using his role as Head of Department and a so-called “friend” to the boy to create chances to be alone with him.
Life on Sex Offender Register and Sexual Harm Order
Alongside his prison sentence, Eggington has been slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must remain on the sex offenders register for life.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
“This was a very detailed investigation which required the continued strength and support of the victim and his family,” said Detective Constable Craig Ferguson.
“Eggington abused the child sexually on multiple occasions. I commend the victim for his courage throughout this difficult investigation.”
Detective Ferguson added: “Hampshire Constabulary remains absolutely committed to supporting victims of non-recent sexual abuse and bringing offenders to justice.
