M25 Closed in Both Directions near the A12 after Security Alert

The M25 Motorway has been closed in both directions between Junction 27 and Junction J29 due to a security scare. Traffic has been diverted via local routes whilst Officers from the Met Police and officers from Essex Police carry out a search near to the A12 in Brentford. Other road effected by the closure are the M11,A12 and A127 The closure has been put in place it is understood after a vehicle stopped on the motorway hard shoulder and the driver was acting suspiciously looking for something on the verge of the motorway. The closure was put in place with the help of traffic officers from Highways England just before 11pm on Monday evening. It is understood that a large area on both sides of the carriageway has been carried out but nothing has been found. A spokesman for the Highways England said that the closures are about to be removed shortly.
