Man Jailed for 13 Years Over Shocking Rape Near Datchet Station
Kapil Dogra, 35, from Addlestone, Surrey, has been slammed with a 13-year prison sentence after a unanimous jury found him guilty of multiple sexual offences. The Reading Crown Court trial lasted five days and ended on October 2.
Brutal Attack in Woods Near Datchet Station
On the night of April 12, 2017, Dogra targeted a woman in her late teens as she left Datchet railway station. At around 10.20pm, he grabbed her on London Road and dragged her to a wooded area at the junction of Major Farms Road, Ditton Road, and London Road, where he raped and sexually assaulted her.
Dogra’s Damning Court Confession
Dogra admitted in court he was in the area to buy Class A drugs after travelling from Staines to Datchet. Police arrested him just six days after the attack on April 18, 2017, charging him the following day.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery, Community Support
“At no point during the trial did Dogra show any remorse for the terrible ordeal he put his victim through, which meant the victim had to face her attacker in court,” said Detective Constable Sara Harrison of Force CID in Maidenhead. “The victim has been extremely brave throughout this process and I commend her for standing up to her attacker. I hope his sentence will help her move on.”
Detective Harrison added: “This incident shocked the Datchet community, and I thank residents for their support, particularly those who gave witness statements and handed over CCTV evidence.”
She concluded: “Thankfully, this type of attack is rare. This conviction proves Thames Valley Police’s commitment to bringing sexual offenders to justice.”
Post-release, Dogra will spend two years on licence and must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register.
