Distraction Theft Trio Caught on CCTV – Police Hunt Three Suspects in Barking Bank Heist
Police have released CCTV images of three suspects linked to a slick distraction theft at a Barking NatWest branch. The robbery happened around noon on 16 September 2017, when a 46-year-old woman was targeted in the queue at the East Street bank.

While the victim chatted with a woman who started a conversation, a man standing behind her bent down and snatched an envelope containing £920 from her bag. The woman and her two male accomplices then casually left the bank.
The victim only realised the cash was missing when she reached the cashier.
Meet the Suspects
- Suspect One: Asian woman, 20s, long straight brown hair, grey beanie hat, grey top, grey tracksuit trousers, black shoes.
- Suspect Two: Eastern European man, 30s, short black hair, short black beard, cream T-shirt, blue jeans, blue trainers with white soles.
- Suspect Three: Asian man, 30s, receding short dark hair, black baseball cap, dark body warmer, grey tracksuit trousers, white trainers.
Police Plea for Info
PC Matthew Trenfield-Brown described the crime as “devious,” saying the gang appeared to have planned the distraction carefully. “We are appealing for any information as to the identity of these three suspects,” he said.
