Havant Hammer Attack: Four Teens Arrested After Racial Assault
Detectives are hunting for witnesses after a shocking assault near Havant Railway Station on Friday night. At around 9pm, a group of youths allegedly racially abused local business owners before attacking a 26-year-old man with a hammer.
Victim Injured in Racially Charged Hammer Attack
The victim suffered bruising to his shoulder during the violent ordeal. Police say the attack was fuelled by racial and religious hatred.
Four Teens Arrested Over Hate Crime Assault
- A 17-year-old boy from Havant was arrested for racially and religiously aggravated assault and harassment.
- A 15-year-old boy from Havant faces charges for racially aggravated wounding and harassment.
- A 17-year-old Southampton male was arrested for racially aggravated assault and causing fear of violence.
- A 16-year-old boy from Havant was also detained under suspicion of racially aggravated assault and provoking violence.
All four have now been released from custody but remain under investigation, under what is commonly known as police bail.
