Teen Sex Attack on Train Sparks Police Hunt for Witness

A teenage boy was sexually assaulted on a Great Western Railway train passing through Wiltshire. The shocking attack happened at around 6.50pm on May 5, aboard a service running between Bristol Parkway and Bath Spa.

Man Makes Unwanted Advances on Teen

A 28-year-old man from Portishead approached the boy and started talking to him. He then touched the teen inappropriately, both above and below the waist. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault but has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.

Witness Still Needed to Crack Case

Another passenger on the train challenged the attacker’s behaviour but has yet to speak to police. Officers believe this witness boarded the train at Chippenham and say their account could be crucial.

Detective Constable Denis Mahoney said: “We will never tolerate unwanted sexual behaviour and are working hard to investigate this incident. We know another man spoke out on the train and we’re urging him to come forward. You might have vital information.”
