Search on for man missing in Jubilee River near Slough

Thames Valley Police are scrambling in Slough tonight after a man was reported missing in the Jubilee River. At 7.25pm, officers were called to Windsor Road after reports a young man ran into the river near the weir and got into serious trouble while swimming.

Man last seen struggling in river

The missing man, believed to be in his early twenties, was with friends but never came out of the water. Police, working alongside the Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service, are scouring the riverbank to find him.

He’s described as about 6ft tall, with dark brown hair, wearing denim shorts and no top when he disappeared.

Police issue urgent appeal

“We’re extremely concerned for this man’s welfare and urge anyone who saw him in trouble or leaving the water to come forward,” said Inspector Michelle Kneale from Maidenhead Police Station. “We’re continuing extensive searches and enquiries to locate him.”

Deadly river currents warn police

Inspector Kneale also warned: “Don’t be tempted to swim here. The weir makes currents deadly. Rivers can hide unseen hazards beneath the surface, so please think twice before diving in.

If you have any info, contact Thames Valley Police’s 24-hour enquiry line on 101 quoting ref 1285 25/7.”
