Witness appeal following Canterbury robbery

Kent Police is appealing for witnesses after a man claiming to be a taxi driver stole money from a victim in Canterbury. The robbery is reported to have occurred in St Gregory’s Road, close to the junction with North Holmes Road, in the early hours of Friday 10 August. Detective Sergeant Heidi Collins said: ‘The victim, an 18-year-old man, had been out with friends and was trying to find a taxi to take him home. ‘While he was in the St George’s Street/Canterbury Lane area of the city a man approached him claiming to have a taxi. The victim followed the man to St Gregory’s Road where the man produced a small knife and demanded the victim hand over his money. ‘The offender then left the scene, heading on foot back towards the city centre.’ The offender is described as white, of a skinny build, aged between 16 and 20, about 6 ft 1 ins tall and was wearing dark-coloured trousers and shoes and a dark-coloured coat with the hood up.
