Tragedy on Coombe Road: Student Killed in Deadly Crash
Police are hunting witnesses after a fatal road collision claimed the life of a young university student in Kingston.
Student Dies After Collision in New Malden
At 11.24pm on Monday, 13 August, emergency services rushed to Coombe Road, New Malden, following reports of a serious crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. A 21-year-old woman was struck by the car.
Despite frantic efforts from paramedics, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after midnight.
She has since been named as Charlotte Staplehurst, a 21-year-old university student from eastbourne/" title="Eastbourne" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Eastbourne. Her family have been informed of the devastating loss.
Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Dangerous Driving
The 27-year-old driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was taken to a south London police station for questioning before being released under investigation.
Witness Appeal: Police Ask for Dash Cam Footage
