Dover Paedo Gets 18 Years for Child Sex Crimes

Howard David Lavers, 55, from Dover, has been slammed with an 18-year prison sentence for multiple child sex offences. The vile offender appeared at Canterbury Crown Court on 28 August and was told he must serve an extra two years on licence after his release.

Decades-Old Abuse Comes to Light

Kent Police uncovered chilling details that Lavers sexually assaulted a young girl repeatedly between 1994 and 1997 in the Folkestone area. Disturbingly, they also found indecent images of children stored on his computer.

Victim’s Courage Brings Justice

The abuse only surfaced after the victim bravely reported Lavers in 2016, sparking a major investigation. Detective Constable Rebecca Thomas condemned Lavers’ wickedness and lack of remorse.

“Lavers’ depravity was only matched by his lack of remorse for the way he treated his victim over the course of several years,” said DC Thomas. “The court has recognised his level of offending and given him a substantial prison sentence where he can reflect on his actions.”

She added credit to the victim’s courage: “This conviction has come about because of the brave actions of the girl he targeted, who showed great courage in coming forward and reporting his abuse.”
