Tragic Crash Claims Bright Young Life of Billy Elbrow, 20
The family of Billy Elbrow, 20, from Abingdon, have paid a heartfelt tribute after he died in a road crash at the Milton Interchange on the A4130 on Thursday, 23 August.
Beloved Son and Friend Taken Too Soon
“Our amazing, beautiful, very much loved son Billy was suddenly taken from us in a terrible road traffic accident,” the family said. Billy wasn’t just a son – he was a devoted brother, grandson, nephew, boyfriend, and friend to many.
Known for his happy-go-lucky spirit, Billy lived life to the fullest. From age 13, he worked hard to save for his dream: owning a car and motorbike, passions that made his parents proud.
Remembering Billy’s Spark and Kindness
Billy’s infectious laugh, cheeky grin, and warm smile left a mark on everyone he met. He loved music, singing, and dancing, always carrying a positive, can-do attitude.
Generous to a fault, Billy would always stop to help anyone in need. His family say he was “a kind, thoughtful person” with a heart of gold.
Community Mourns a Bright Light
John Masons School staff paid tribute to Billy, recalling a polite young man known for lighting up any room with a smile.
“Our memories of Billy are of such a wonderfully polite young man who always stopped and said hello with a beaming smile,” said staff. “He had a bright personality that touched everyone.”
Ms Thornton remembered meeting Billy recently in Oxford—“He was so lovely stopping to chat.” Mr Duckham spoke of his determined spirit despite disliking history, recalling his detailed Holocaust project.
The family also thanked emergency services who tried to save Billy, including the Air Ambulance crew, paramedics, John Radcliffe Hospital staff, and the police for their ongoing support.
They have asked for privacy during this devastating time.
Billy was a bright light gone too soon, loved and missed by all who knew him.
