Fire crews mobilised to Freshwater

Fire crews from Newport and Freshwater have been called out to a suspected blaze in Freshwater this evening (Monday). The Island’s fire and rescue services were called out to the incident in the West Wight just after 9pm on Monday evening.   Two appliances remain at the scene of the incident along with officers from Hampshire Constabulary at what is understood to be a heavily smoke logged property in Sunset Close just off the High Street in Freshwater. Firefighters used positive pressure ventilation (PPV) to clear the smoke and carried out checks in an adjoining property. A spokesman for the service said “The alarm was raised at 9.06pm and the two crews from Newport and a retained crew from Freshwater were mobilised to the incident.
