Blaze Breaks Out in Freshwater, Fire Crews Race to Scene
Emergency services scrambled to Freshwater tonight after reports of a suspected fire in the West Wight area. Firefighters from Newport and Freshwater rushed to Sunset Close, just off the High Street, shortly after 9pm Monday.
Smoke Chokes Property in Freshwater
Upon arrival, crews found the property heavily smoke-logged. Two fire engines remain at the scene, joined by officers from Hampshire Constabulary. Firefighters quickly deployed positive pressure ventilation (PPV) to clear the dense smoke and carried out safety checks in a neighbouring building.
Fire Service Issues Statement
“The alarm was raised at 9.06pm, and two crews from Newport plus a retained crew from Freshwater were mobilised to the incident,” a fire service spokesman confirmed.
The situation remains under investigation as emergency teams work to ensure the area is safe.
