Murder probe continues into tragic stabbing of Jodie Chesney in Harold Hill
The investigation into the brutal murder of teenager Jodie Chesney in Harold Hill is still ongoing. An 18-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder on 10 March, remains locked up after police secured a warrant to extend his detention.
Suspects and arrests: Who’s been held?
Alongside the main suspect, three others were arrested on 10 March on suspicion of assisting an offender – a 50-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman, and a 17-year-old boy. They have all since been released under investigation as police continue their enquiries.
What happened on the night of the stabbing?
Police and London Ambulance Service were called at 9.25pm on 1 March after reports of a stabbing in a park near St Neot’s Road in Harold Hill. Officers found Jodie with a stab wound and she was tragically pronounced dead at 10.26pm.
A post-mortem on 3 March confirmed her cause of death as trauma and haemorrhage. The Homicide and Major Crime Command launched a full murder investigation immediately.
Charges and court dates
- 5 March: Manuel Petrovic, from Highfield Road, Romford, was nabbed in Leicester. He’s charged with murder and was remanded to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court and then the Old Bailey. His trial is set for 2 September.
- 8 March: A 16-year-old boy from Romford was also arrested in London, charged with murder, and remanded to face court.
