Firefighters rushed to Ryde on the Isle of Wight after a huge tree log went up in flames on Monday afternoon.

A single fire engine was dispatched just before 2pm after a 999 call came through, alerting crews to the smouldering hazard on the busy bank holiday.

Brave firefighters used buckets of water to douse the burning tree, quickly bringing the blaze under control.

They then made the area safe, ensuring no further danger to bank holiday revellers or passersby.
