Coastguard called to van trapped in Water

Portsmouth coastguard search and rescue team were sent to investigate a van in Portsbridge Creek with persons in the water around it. Arriving on scene it was apparent that the persons in the water were recovery crews attempting to retrieve the vehicle. After speaking with the crews Rescue Officers were able to confirm that the vehicle had been stuck for some time and that there was no immediate risk to life. With Recovery Crews engaged in attempting to retrieve the van Rescue Officers remained on scene, providing water rescue cover in case it was required whilst monitoring for pollution as the van was moved. Recovery crews were subsequently able to remove the van in the early afternoon. Thanks to the first informants for reporting their concerns to Solent Coastguard via 999, as it allowed confirmation to be made that in this instance there was no immediate risk to life.
