Tragedy in Calne: Teen Ellie Gould Murdered at Home
Ellie Gould Identified as Victim
The teenage girl found dead at her Springfield Drive home in Calne on Friday, May 3rd, has been named as 17-year-old Eleanor “Ellie” Gould. Ambulance crews discovered her body around 3.15pm and quickly alerted police.
17-Year-Old Boy Arrested Over Ellie’s Murder
Shortly after, police arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murdering Ellie. He remains in custody as inquiries continue. Ellie was a Year 12 pupil at Hardenhuish School in nearby Chippenham.
Community in Shock as Police Press Ahead
Superintendent Conway Duncan expressed sympathy for Ellie’s loved ones. “Our thoughts remain with Ellie’s family, friends, and schoolmates,” he said. “Specially trained officers are supporting her family, while Hardenhuish School is offering help to pupils.”
He added: “We understand the shock and anxiety in Calne and Chippenham. Our officers are working swiftly to progress the investigation. Thanks go to the local community for their patience and support.”
Investigation Underway
A forensic post mortem has been carried out to confirm Ellie’s cause of death, but the results have not yet been released. Police have urged anyone with information to call 101 quoting log number 176 of May 3rd.
