Hammer-Wielding Man Detained at Southall Mosque

Police rushed to a mosque on Hayes Road, Southall, at 4.33am on Monday, 3 June after reports of a man armed with a hammer.

Worshippers Stop Suspect Before Cops Arrive

The 38-year-old allegedly tried to attack people inside the mosque but was held back by worshippers before officers arrived. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm and is now in custody at a west London police station.

No Injuries and No Terror Link

Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident. Police say it’s not being treated as terror-related. The motive appears linked to a dispute involving individuals the man believed had attended the mosque the day before.

Officers remain at the scene as investigations continue.
