Pontins Shocks Holidaymakers with Sudden Camber Sands Closure
Pontins Holidays has stunned fans by announcing the immediate shutdown of its beloved Camber Sands holiday park near Rye, close to the Kent border. The surprise move also shutters the Prestatyn site in Wales, leaving loyal customers fuming and confused.
Customers Left in the Lurch
A Pontins spokesperson said, “We regret to inform you that our parks in Prestatyn and Camber Sands will be closing with immediate effect. Customers whose bookings will be affected by these closures will be contacted by our team and refunded. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
The sudden news has sparked mixed reactions. Many locals and holidaymakers are heartbroken by the loss of a much-loved seaside escape, while others are questioning why Pontins pulled the plug without warning.
Why the Sudden Shutdown?
So far, Pontins hasn’t revealed the reason behind the closures. Whether it’s financial troubles, poor reviews, or something else, holiday fans are desperate for answers.
End of an Era for a Classic Seaside Spot
Pontins Camber Sands has been a budget holiday hotspot since 1968, sprawling across 32 acres with 820 self-catering chalets. It used to welcome around 3,000 guests annually, offering affordable family fun by the sea.
But recent TripAdvisor reviews tell a different story. The park’s two-star rating highlights consistent complaints about dirty accommodations, subpar food, and a disappointing overall experience.
