Man Tries to Lure 10-Year-Old Girl Onto Bus in Clapham
Detectives are on the hunt for a man who approached a 10-year-old girl at a bus stop in Clapham and tried to get her to board a bus with him.
Chilling Incident at Clapham Bus Stop
The unsettling encounter took place around 3.55pm on Tuesday, 21 May at Poynders Road, Clapham, SW4. The man initially asked the girl for directions. As a bus pulled up, he ordered her to get on with him, beckoning her to follow.
Man Pretends to Be Girl’s Father
When the girl refused, the stranger acted as if he were her dad, saying she was “being naughty by not getting on the bus” and that she should “obey him.” Thankfully, the girl’s mother was on the bus and confronted the man, scaring him off.
Suspect Description and Police Appeal
- Black male, 5ft 9ins, slim build, aged 33-35
- Chiselled features
- Wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, white trainers
- Carrying a black and red JD rucksack
- Wearing large black earphones
After being challenged, the man became irate and banged his head against the glass bus shelter before walking away.
Detective Constable Teresa Moore urged the public: “This incident left a young girl feeling very frightened. Thankfully, her mother arrived on the scene, but we want to speak to this man as soon as possible. If anyone recognises him, please contact police immediately.”
