Croydon serial sex attacker arrested by police

Detectives investigating a series of sexual assaults and robberies in South Norwood County Park have made an arrest. A man has arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and robbery on the afternoon of Monday, 1 July and remains in custody. Officers are investigating six separate attacks on women which are believed to have taken place in the park between Friday, 3 May and Friday, 21 June. Each of the victims – aged from their early 30s to mid 60s, were walking or jogging alone, five of them with dogs. All the offences occurred in daylight and on weekdays between 10am and 4.30pm Four of the victims were sexually assaulted. In four cases the suspect either stole or attempted to steal mobile phones from the victims. None of the victims suffered any further injuries. At this stage, officers are treating the offences as linked. Police have advised park users to be vigilant. Additional patrols have been carried out in the area.
