Jewellery Store Robber Jailed After Dramatic Citizen Arrest in Kilburn
A brazen raid on a Kilburn jewellers ended in a nail-biting citizen’s arrest and a hefty jail sentence. Jason Abraham, 23, from Islington, was locked up for seven years and four months after a violent smash-and-grab at Amir Jewellers in Maida Vale.
Masked Gang Storm Shop Armed with Hammers and Machete
On the evening of Monday, 20 May, seven men on mopeds – armed with hammers and a machete – terrorised the jewellers. With brutal force, they smashed display cases packed with gold rings, bracelets, and Arabic-style diamond jewellery.

Brave Public Stop Robber in His Tracks
Jason Abraham was caught hot-foot by courageous members of the public at Kilburn Priory, refusing to let him escape. Police swooped on the scene and arrested him immediately.
CCTV clearly captured Abraham’s black helmet with a distinct white logo. Officers’ Body Worn Video showed witnesses pointing him out, sealing his identity as one of the raiders.
Detectives Praise Public and Appeal for More Help
“We are pleased that we have managed to put one member of this violent and dangerous robbery behind bars so quickly,” said Detective Sergeant Kieran Curry. “Abraham and his gang endangered lives. We are grateful to the brave public who risked their safety to stop him and to the staff who helped the police by alerting authorities.”
