East London Man Pleads Guilty to Terror Plot

Mohammed Yamin, 25, from East London, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on Monday, 15 July, following a Met Counter Terrorism Command probe. He admitted preparing terrorist acts between 2 and 10 July 2013, buying equipment, clothes, and a one-way ticket to Syria to carry out his plan.

Al Qa’ida Membership Confirmed

Yamin also pleaded guilty to belonging to the proscribed terrorist group Al Qa’ida from 10 July 2013 to 1 June 2014. However, he denied possession of a gun for terrorist purposes, with that charge now set aside.

Sentencing Date Set and Arrest Details

Remanded in custody, Yamin faces sentencing at the Old Bailey on 4 October. Police arrested him on 30 July, charging him the next day following the terror investigation.
