London Bridge Stabbing: Two Dead, Three Seriously Injured in Terror Attack

Tragedy struck near London Bridge on Friday as two people lost their lives following a brutal stabbing incident. Three others remain seriously injured after the attack that unfolded just before 2pm on 29 November.

Rapid Police Response Ends with Suspect Dead

Police were called at 1:58pm to reports of a stabbing at a premises near London Bridge, EC1. Officers from the Metropolitan Police and City of London Police rushed to the scene. Specialist armed officers shot a male suspect, who later died at the scene.

Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu confirmed: “As soon as we can provide further updates on the conditions of those injured, we will. Our sympathies go out to all affected.” The incident was immediately treated as terror-related and has officially been declared a terrorist attack. The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command now leads the investigation.

Fake Explosive Device Found on Suspect

Initial fears of an explosive device on the suspect were confirmed to be a hoax. Specialist officers carried out thorough searches, with wide cordons remaining in place around the area to keep the public safe.

Officers continue to appeal for information, urging anyone with photos or videos of the incident to share them via the UK Police Image appeal website. The public has been asked to stay vigilant and report concerns.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Issues Strong Statement

At 8:10pm, Met Commissioner Cressida Dick expressed her sorrow and anger:

“I am deeply saddened and angered that our city has again been targeted by terrorism. Two victims have tragically died and three others are in hospital. Our thoughts are with their families and everyone affected.”

She praised the swift police response, which saw officers confront the attacker within five minutes of the first call. The attack began at Fishmongers’ Hall in the City of London.

Commissioner Dick added:

“I want to thank emergency services and brave members of the public who helped. Increased policing will continue in the coming days to reassure Londoners. Our Counter Terrorism team is working tirelessly to understand what happened and if others were involved.”

She urged anyone worried about loved ones present during the attack to get in touch with police.
