Four More Boys Arrested in Newark Rape Probe
Police have arrested four more teenage boys as their investigation into a brutal rape in Newark gathers pace.
Attack on Yorke Drive Playing Fields
The incident happened between 5.30pm and 7pm on Saturday, 25 May, at Yorke Drive Playing Fields. Officers were alerted after a teenage girl reported she had been attacked.
The new arrests involve boys aged 12, 13, and two aged 14. All are held on suspicion of rape and have been released on bail with strict conditions.
Police Ramp Up Investigation and Appeal for Help
Detective Inspector Amy Revill said: “We have made a further four arrests and our investigation is moving quickly. We are supporting the girl and her family with specially trained officers and doing all we can to establish exactly what happened.”
Inspector Charlotte Ellam added: “We understand the concerns in the Newark community. Our detectives are working around the clock and extra patrols are ongoing. If you have any information or concerns, please speak to our officers. Please avoid speculation and let the investigation run its course.”
Community Urged to Come Forward
Four other teenage boys were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of rape, with all remaining on conditional bail.
