Hit and run driver narrowly missed school children whilst out on a rampage

  A man reported missing and circulated by Police is in fact the driver   suspected in the hit and run incident in Bishopstoke, Eastleigh. Oliver Mountford  has now been arrested following a wide search by Police and NPAS (National Police Air Support) who spent most of the night over Bishopstoke, Eastleigh and Chandlers Ford in the search. Mountford was seen driving his Grey BMW 1 Series coupe at high speed, hurling abuse to other drivers and sounding his horn as he took to the wrong side of the road and mounted the pavement at Alan Drayton Way, before dumping his smashed up car in an alleyway on Bodmin Road in Bishopstoke,. The car was recovered around midday. One witness said “The driving was crazy he almost hit two other cars on the road not to mention speeding up past the school on the wrong side of the road” Another stated “Saw this car at 8:30 /8:40 driving down Burnett’s Lane just by the meadowsweet exit driving super fast with the horn being blown as he drove past.” He was seen between 8.30am and 8.40am driving erratically down Burnette’s Lane in Horton Heath, before heading to Fair oak where he was seen to crash by the New Clock Inn public house and failed to stop. Parents and school children were still in the area heading to the local Stoke park infant and Junior School. The smashed up vehicle was dumped behind the side fence to stoke park junior school. Police previously launched appeals to locate Mountford worried for his wellbeing on social media and on their website but these have since been removed.
